A 77-year-old grandmother went on a trip to Iceland, an island country to the north. She climbed on a throne-shaped iceberg while she was there.

Judith Streng, from Texas, struck a royal look on the iceberg. The iceberg washed up on Diamond Beach in J?kulsárlón, Iceland. Her son snapped a picture. It was a moment of success for the “iceberg queen,” as she was later called. That is, until a sudden wave splashed around the icy throne. It sent the grandmother out to sea. “When I got on it, it started to totter and a wave was coming in,” Streng said. The wave made the throne rock back and forth. She said, “I could tell that I was slipping off.”

Streng’s granddaughter, Christine, posted the texts and photos her father sent after the Feb. 26

experience. Each photo shows Judith drifting farther and farther away from the camera. Christine’s father texted her that her grandmother “lost her kingdom” when she drifted out to sea. He added, “No joke. A coast guard rescuer had to save her and bring her back to shore!” Photos of grandma’s ocean adventure had 66,000 retweets by the evening of March 1.

The daring grandmother said her rescuer was Randy Lacount, a boat captain from Florida. He had seen her float away. “I thought it was safe,” Streng said. “One gift had been on it and then two girls at the same time, and it was very secure with them. But I don’t weigh very much. So it was a little easier to float off with me, I guess.” When asked why she sat on the throne, she said, “You know, I always wanted to be a queen. I mean, come on, that was my chance.”

Streng has returned to the United States and is relaxing after her trip, Christine said. The older Streng told her granddaughter that she’s “glad people are getting a kick out of her story.” “Being so popular is wild,” the grandmother added. In a way, it’s like being royalty. 24. What effect did the adventure with the iceberg have on Streng? A. She is afraid to visit Iceland again. B. She became popular on social media. C. She wants to find other icebergs. D. She thinks it’s better to stay home.

25. Why did Streng think it would be safe to get on the iceberg? A. Because two girls had been on the iceberg before her. B. Because she had sat on top of iceberg many times before. C. Because she knew that her son was nearby to rescue her. D. Because she had seen others do it on social media. 26. How was Ms. Streng saved from the floating iceberg? A. Christine’s father sent someone to save her. B. Two girls who were on the iceberg saved her. C. Christine texted her father and he saved her. D. A boat captain saw her and saved her.

27. Which of the following is tree about the underlined sentence in Para. 4? A. It explains what moved Streng to climb onto the iceberg. B. It shows what Streng thinks about being famous now. C. It describes what Streng felt as she was drifting to sea.

The first drawings on walls appeared in caves thousands of years ago. Later the Ancient Romans and Greeks wrote their names and protest poems on buildings. The new art form really, took off in the 1970s, when people began writing their names, or ‘tags’, on buildings all over the city. In the mid seventies it was sometimes hard to see out of a subway car window, because the trains were completely covered in spray paintings known as “masterpieces”.

The term ‘graffiti’ was first used by The New York Times and the novelist Norman Mailer. Art galleries in New York began buying graffiti in the early seventies.
