Nanjing---A 3D -printed public toilet block (3D公厕), covering an area of 200 square meters, is drawing attention in Suzhou, East China’s Jiangsu province. Located in Sun Mountain National Forest Park, the beautiful green-and-wood-colored toilet block has been named “little box in forest”. It was made from rubbish using 3D printing technology. The great invention was made without any steel, but is even stronger than other toilets.

At some places, tourists can scan QR codes(二维码) with their mobile phones to receive 80 cm of toilet paper . They can scan the codes twice for more paper , but they have to pay for the third time. Pu Zexin, a general manager of Suzhou Chuzhibao Internet of Things, the inventor of the toilet paper machine, said the invention was intended to prevent toilet paper being wasted. Staff(工作人员)at the Humble Administrator’s Garden tourist site said, the technology can help save nearly¥9,000($1,361) per toilet yearly. It is said that the machines have helped reduce the use of toilet paper in the city’s public toilets by an average (平均)of 80 percent. More toilet blocks will be built with the machines.

Dear friend,
How are you? I’m Luna from Canada. I know that you are feeling the pain of being in China at Christmas time. For you, it may be the first Christmas away from America, I’m sorry about that. But the truth is that I don’t mind being thousands of miles from home at Christmas time. I don’t think it’s because I am an old lady who doesn’t care about Christmas, I think it’s because of one simple fact—the homesick young people are at the beginning of the Christmas life circle, but I’m at the other end.
For you, a single man, Christmas is a holiday where you show up and people give things you really want, plus a great home-cooked meal. But for someone who gets married like me it would be much ◆ . If I was back home in Canada I would be putting on my Christmas apron(围裙)and making a big dinner, writing Christmas cards, putting up decorations(装饰)on Christmas trees, then cleaning up and packing things all away again for another year. In other words, I know that Christmas doesn’t magically appear, and it takes a lot of preparations. And I’m glad to have a chance to get out of all the annoyed housework.
Another reason I don’t suffer from holiday homesickness(思乡病)—I have one big advantage (优势)over the other people—is that I’m married to “Santa Claus”(圣诞老人). My husband is a “super star”wherever he goes, and he loves meeting children, handing out gifts and candies. It doesn’t matter if they’re kids or university students. Everybody gets excited when Santa Claus comes through the door.
Christmas present also has its own very different meanings here. Our Chinese friends are friendly and they give us Christmas Eve apples, invite us and our French friends out for dinner. Their friendship and kindness are more than enough to warm our hearts.
Yours,
Luna 38. Where does Luna come from?
A. China. B. Canada. C.America. D.France.

A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it.He held it up(举起)for all to see, and asked the students, “Does anybody know how much the glass weighs?”
“50g!” “100g!” “125g!” the students answered.
“I really can’t know unless I weigh it,” the professor said, “but my next question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?”
“Nothing,” the students said.
“Okay. What would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?” the professor asked.
“Your arm would begin to ache(酸痛),”one of the students said. “You’re right. Now, what would happen if I held it for a day?”
“Your arm could go numb(麻木的).You might have serious muscles stress, or paralysis(瘫痪).You would have to go to the hospital for sure!”another student said. All the students laughed.
“Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?” the professor asked.
“No,” the student said.
“Then what caused the arm ache and the muscle stress?”The students were puzzled.
“Putting the glass down!”One of the students said.
“Exactly!” said the professor.“The problems in life are like this. If you just think about them for a few minutes, they might not seem so bad. Think about them for a longer time, and they begin to be trouble. Think about them even longer and they begin to annoy you. You will not be able to do anything. It’s important to think about challenges in your life, but it’s even more important to ‘put them down’ at the end of the day before sleeping. In that way, you can not be stressed, but start to believe ‘tomorrow is another day’. Therefore you can handle any problems or challenges that come your way in the end! ” 42. What did the professor do to begin his class?
A. Made a chemical experiment. B. Told students a story about a glass. C.played a movie about a fairy tale D.Held up a glass with water in it. 43. What would probably happen to the professor if he held the glass for an hour?
