A Study on Factors influencing the performance of Property-Liability Insurance Industry in Taiwan-An Application of Multivariate Statistical Analysis

摘 要
本文应用多变量统计分析评估台湾地区本国与外商产险公
司之绩效阻碍因素，研究方法包括因素分析、区不分析、集群分析等方法进行研究实证。结果显示阻碍产险公司绩效因素依序分不为「资产品质因素」、「业务性因素」、「市场规模因素」、「获利性因素」、「资本适足性分析」、「治理能力因素」、「投资能力因素」等因素，本国产险公司着重于治理能力、市场规模与投资能力因素；外商产险公司则着重于业务性因素。另一方面，市占率关于产险业绩效的阻碍，并不一定是正面的。

Abstract
This study uses Multivariate Statistical Analysis to discover and evaluate the factors influencing the performance of the domestic and foreign-owned
property-liability insurance industry. The multivariate statistical techniques include factor analysis,
discriminate analysis and cluster analysis. Overall, the results indicate that the influencing factors of the
property-liability insurance industry’s performance are asset quality, business, market share, earnings, capital adequacy, managerial ability, and investment ability factors while market share, managerial ability, and investment ability factors are the most important performance influencing factors for domestic
property-liability insurance companies, the business factor is the most influential in evaluating the performance of foreign-owned property-liability insurance corporations. The influence of market share of
property-liability insurance industry does not always play a positive role in a company’s performance.
