一、课程的性质、目的与任务:

本课程是英语专业本科高年级学生的专业必修课。本课程的目的在于使学生对英国文学形成发展全貌及其主要内涵有一个大致了解：通过阅读具有代表性的重点作品，理解作品的内容，学会分析作品的艺术特色，掌握正确评价文学作品的标准和方法，提高文学欣赏水平及其文学批评能力；通过了解英国文学创作的社会背景和文学思潮及其他们之间的相互关系来把握文学作品的文化内涵，提高对英国文化的认知能力；与语言教学相结合，增强学生语言表达能力。 二、课程的基本内容：

三、课程的教学要求：

通过本课程学习，使学生对英国文学的形成发展的全貌及其主要内涵有一个大致了解：通过阅读具有代表性的重点作品，提高学生的文学鉴赏能力。鼓励学生多做课外阅读，通过文学作品，提高学生对英国文化的认知能力并增强学生的语言表达能力。

四、课程学时分配：
