教材分析
The topic of “Listening and Speaking” is about getting to know new people. The listening material is mainly about the common campus situations in senior high school. Students are expected to review and consolidate the language functional item learnt in junior high school—making introductions and greetings. In this part, students need to make conversations about how to greet and introduce people depending on different situations in life.
The topic of “Listening and Talking” is about reflecting on your learning styles and strategies. Students need to better their learning styles and strategies in order to learn more effectively.
To train the competence of students’ spoken English, students should be required to talk about the related topic actively. In order to arouse students’ interest, the teacher can hold a competition between groups. 教学目标与核心素养
1. Instruct students to get main facts by listening and motivate them to talk about the topics about introductions and greetings.
2. Enable students to express their own learning styles and strategies and rate the different styles and strategies.

Part 1: Listening and Speaking
The teacher is advised to talk with their new students about the related topic: boys and girls do you know how to introduce and greet others?
After their small talk, the teacher can move on by finishing activity 1 on p2 on the textbook.
Match the pictures with the sentences and then ask students to describe what the people in the picture are doing.
Next, the teacher is advised to play conversation1, which is about how to get a student ID card and complete the following details.

After finishing the task above, the teacher is expected to play conversation 3 which is about the conversations between a teenager girl called Amy and her school adviser, Ms Li. and after finishing listening the first time, the students need to solve the following task.

3. What does the adviser think of Amy’s future dream?
Finally, after finishing the task above, the teacher is expected to instruct students to work in groups to finish the following project:
