我是从小就跟父亲学戏，但其实我小时候的性格是不喜欢从艺的，很内向。在我哥哥去世前，66年4月，当时我才六岁，他跟我说：我要死了。我问：什么是死？他说：你再也见不到我了。我问：怎么才能见到你呢？他说：当你演成美猴王那天就能见到我了！其实哥哥是一种启示，他不可能跟小孩说很多理想，就用最朴素的话鼓舞我。我也拿他的遗言当成自己的动力。但我真正进剧团很晚，进了浙江昆剧团。我就在这个剧团学习成长，拍《西游记》之前一直在这里工作。昆剧现在已经是世界文化遗产。
XX年，我和父亲、还有《西游记》剧组的演员，专门到西贡给观众演出，非常受欢迎！包括越南在内的很多东南亚国家，甚至有人说中国怎么有一个叫六小龄童的人长的跟猴子一样呢？88年《西游记》在新加坡很轰动的时候，我们剧组去演出，本来计划演3场，后来演了11场，非常轰动，当时我最大的感受是：我们中国传统民族文化的魅力是无穷的！
还有一位80岁的老太太给我写信说：因为很多人家里没有电视机，所以播《西游记》时，大家都围在一起看！我们越南人都会唱《敢问路在何方》，播《西游记》时，街上不光小偷没有了，连警察都没了！
她还写了让我感动的：当时，越南与中国有一些小摩擦，就像一个家庭里的兄弟姐妹有分歧一样。当时我也有一些偏见，对中国有些不理解。但当看了《西游记》后，我觉得人与人之间，应该像师徒四人一样团结一致，为了理想一起坚持到最后取到真经。这实际上也是中国传统文化中的精髓体现。
《西游记》成就了我和我的家族，甚至是中国的猴戏艺术！我记得有一个郑州大学的女生给我写信说：吴承恩赋予孙悟空是一个生命，六小龄童赋予孙悟空是一个血液。我当时非常感动。其实中国很多人在演孙悟空，不是只有我们章家，我们属于南派猴戏风格，而北派也有很多人像李万春都演得非常好。观众喜欢我，是因为我赶上这个时代，赶上这么一个好的氛围。80年代初，为了把吴承恩的创作以最好的方式延续下来，我们拍了17年，在创造吉尼斯世界记录的同时也把我拍老了。我今年已经47了，观众支持我不是因为我多帅，而是因为大家支持我们的艺术、支持我们身上体现出的中国传统文化。

needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to china is the olympic games. till now, we have used two sevenths of the preparation time. how much changes have you seen? new roads, new subway lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction.
other than those, there are even more good effects brought to us by the olympic games that cannot be seen directly. for example, more and more people will get to know china. i’m sure the mysterious chinese culture will attract them strongly. and the games will also do good to the economy and environment, for it is gaining the
attention of foreign investors and the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. what is more, olympic games give a unique opportunity to inspire and cate a new generation of chinese youth with the olympic values and the olympic spirit. now that we have seen so many advances, could you even imagine us losing the holding rights?
i’ve already said a lot about the olympics and china. but i think everyone should use some time to think of this question, ”does the olympic games have any special meaning to you?”
for us, i mean the chinese youth, olympic games is a tremendous gift. because what we are waiting for is to do something significant as repaying the love given to us .the society is just like a ship, and in our dreams the captain is waving his hand and saying ”hey! e here and take the helm! ”how charming his voice is, but we have never heard of it in our true life. this morning, however, when we wake up, we will see the olympic games waving its hand. after chewing, most of us will have at least one plan about what to do for the olympic games. and mine is to be a “ forter” ----that is someone who will give fort to others.
at the end of my speech, i hope all the preparation will go well, and everyone will show their ability to the world. let us seize opportunities and give a big smile to challenges.

i can never f et the summer in 1996. i went through an extremity of despair due to my failure in the national college entrance examination. it seemed that my dream
of being a university student would never e true. one evening my father came and told me the story of steven callahan, who was crossing the atlantic alone in his sailboat when it struck something and sank. it was a miracle that he survived and was found 76 days later(the longest anyone has survived a shipwreck on a life raft alone). later in his narrative he wrote these sentences “i tell myself i can handle it . pared to what others have been through i’m fortunate”.
hearing these sentences i felt something important struck me. i belived my life would mot be that bad and it was proved to be true. later during my study in the university i always told myself “i can handle it” when my own goals seemed far off or when my problems seemed too overwhelming and every time i said it ,i always came back to my senses.
now i work as an english teacher in a middle school. whenever my students plain about their difficulties in study or want to give up, i will tell the same story of callahan to them. i just want to make them believe they can handle their difficulties because their circumstances are only bad pared to something better. but others have been through much worse. then they will build up fortitude.
so here, ing to us from the extreme edge of survival, are words that can give us strength. whatever you’re going through, tell yourself you can handle it. pared to what others have been through, you’re fortunate. tell this to yourself over and over, and it will help you get through the rough spots with little more fortitude.
