Do you like taking the 1 ? The Trans-Siberian Railway is the world’s longest railway line (铁路线). It is now 103 years old. The railway 2 from Moscow to Vladivostok. Do you like playing with Legos (乐高)? What do you make with them? Nathan Sawaya from the US takes building with Legos to a new level (水平). He makes works that are larger than life. For example, he made a 6-meter-tall dinosaur (恐龙) with 80,000 Legos. He has also recreated famous paintings by Monet and Edward Munch. Sawaya’s works are first drawn on paper or by using Lego software (软件). This can help him understand more difficult designs (设计) later when he builds his creations (创作).
Sawaya used to be a lawyer (律师). In 2001, he left his job and became a Lego artist, which has been his dream since childhood (童年). Since 2007, his exhibition (展览) Art of the Brick has traveled the world. His works encourage kids of all ages to build on their own.

Emily Flores, 15, living in Texas, US, has a muscle disease (肌肉疾病). She has to use a wheelchair (轮椅).
People sometimes look down on her. Even her English teacher once questioned her writing abilities (能力). The larger problem that she faces is the poor image (形象) that disabled people like her have on TV. For example, ABC’s Speechless is a TV show about a disabled person. It shows the humor (幽默) of the disability, but not the person’s personality.
In 2018, Flores decided to fight back. She made a magazine (杂志) – Cr*pple Magazine – with other 20 young disabled people. Flores wanted to bring teens together through writing. The magazine covers many topics, such as fashion and women’s rights.
“I was tired of being voiceless (沉默的). I know my experience is meaningful. I think it’s so powerful (强大的) when you’re giving chances to teens,” Flores said.
