Step 1: Lead-in and Warming up T: There are many inventions in the world ,can you name some of it Ask some students to tell us some great inventions in the world . Then look at the pictures on page56 together. Rank some of the greatest inventions of the 19th and 20th century,rank them in the order of importance. Step 2: Discussion Discuss with your partner why are those inventions in activity 1important or not important ,share your answer with the class. You can use the following phrase to organize your speech: I think ---------- is the most important invention,because we can use it in -----------,so---------- Step 3: Listening and Speaking (isn’t it wonderful) 1 Listen to the conversation and circle the best answer Pre-listening Ask them to go through the choices before listening .Underline the difficult words and expressions. Then teacher analyzes them for students. And then predict the answer for each question. While-listening Ask students to listen carefully to the material. Keep notes for important to the dialogue . 2
Lead into the new lesson by discussing some inventions to the class. Ask students to express the ideas of what they know about the inventions. Listen to the tape and finish the related tasks.
