Summary of this semester
Time passed so quickly, my time of being a sophomore is coming to an end and on September of this year I will back to school as a junior. At this turning point, it is necessary for me to do a summary of this semester and even this year in which I have experience so much together with my friends, teachers and classmates. In this summary, I’d like to record some things about what I have experienced, what I have acquired form these experiences and how I feel about the process. What’s more, I should also write down something about my plans and schedules of the coming time. The most important affair in this semester is the TEM 4, the test for English majors, which plays a vital role of English majors’ education and future career. Throughout the time of preparing for it, I learned a great deal of grammar knowledge, and I established my own system of English grammar, which I think would be conducive to my further English learning. Excepting grammar, I have also learned how to write a fluent, logical and well-organized composition. And I also cultivated the habit of doing English listening practice every morning. As we all know, this habitual routine is necessary and essential for a language learner and I am delighted that studying for TEM 4 can help me to form a good habit. At present, I still continue this routine every day and it has been a daily part of my study schedule. And I hope I could able to hold onto this lifelong benefit in my future time. The courses of this semester is more difficult than what I have learned before. This means I need to pay more attention and spend more time on my courses. The semester examinations is approaching, so in the next two month, while awaiting the result of TEM 4, I will work hard at my courses. Truth be told, I had a hard time before TEM 4 in that I had to get up early to do listening exercise and I had to do so many simulation test papers during that period. Looking back at that time, I have to say, thanks for my hard work and persistence. No matter what the result is, I would not accuse myself and regret for what I have done. I believe that life is always this case, we may success or fail in life time, but the key point is that we have struggled for what we want. Another thing I

have learned is that habit sometimes is more important than cleverness and getting a good habit is difficult than being clever. Cleverness is given after all. You can seduce yourself with your cleverness if you are not careful, and if you do, it will probably be to the detriment of your habit. In other words, as English learners, we cannot depend on our cleverness or gift. On the contrary, we must get into good habits and develop reasonable schedule table to learn English.
In term of future plans and goals, I strongly hold the opinion that schedule is vital for every stage of life. As our teacher told us, we have to continue to be hard-working even if we have finished the TEM 4 due to we will confront heavier burden of both courses and career planning. In the next year, we English majors will choose our major direction to learn English in a more concrete field, which will benefit our career when we graduate from university. What’s more, in the third year of university, we will start to learn the second foreign language. Maybe I will choose Japanese as my second foreign language. And in the next year, most of the students will
commence to program their occupation career. Of course, it is the same for me, I also will pay much attention to my career planning. First things first, in the next school year, the first thing I have to do is having a clear plan and goal of my future career. Based on the plan, then I can decided what I should do to achieve my goal.I am so
sorry that I am not sure at present whether I should pursue further education or just start my career after graduating from college. What I am quite sure I have to do in the next year is that we have to pass the national computer level-two test and get the BEC Higher certification. This is my plan of the next school semester.
I always think I should try again and again and again and never give up until I achieve my goal.
