Let students look at the map of Canada and some pictures.Then introduce Canada
briefly.finally show the title of reading and some pictures and predict the main idea of the passage.
Get students know some basic facts about Canada.

Get the students to skim the passage and find out the main idea and which places they passed and draw the traveling line.
Vancouver→ Calgary→ Rocky mountains→ Thunder bay→ Lake superior→ Toronto
Get the students to skim the passage and find the answers.
通过跳读找主体思想和画参观路线图旨在培养学生概括文章段落大意和快速捕捉文章表层信息的能力,了解文章细节,指导学生掌握一定的阅读技巧,提高阅读速度,也为下一步细读做好铺垫。
Step4. scanning
Get the students to scan the passage and decide the statements True or False and give the reasons.

Then: arrived in Thunder Bay (a busy port city) Later :got to Lake superior Finally :went towards Toronto
Get students to complete the exercise together,then get two students to retell it again.

Design a traveling route(旅游路线) from north to south in China and give a example.
Route : Ningxia----- Fujian------Shanghai------Yingchuan Example:
I went to Fuchou on National Day. First I’started from Ningxia to Fuchou by air. Because I wanted to see all the old classmates of mine.we hadn’t seen them for more than 20 years since we graduated from Fujian Normal University.We decided to get together.I stayed there for four days.After that I went to Shanghai by train and I enjoyed the Exposition. When I was in Shanghai, I also visited Huangpu River at night. It was very beautiful. Finally I headed towards Yingchuan by train and ended the journey. Get students know how to write a travelling route. 因为去年国庆,因同学安排,我们宁夏几位同学到福州参加了同学会,结合这一课,我给出了这篇范文,目的是让学生通过模仿能够独立地更加准确地完成课堂作业。 Step 9: Homework
